VW's little Polo series isn't sold in the USA, but might be one day. I've taken the GTI 4-seat hatchback and recreated it in the mold of the original Scirocco of 1975, designed by the maestro, Giorgetto Giugiaro. For my Polo Sport Coupe, I've reduced seating to just two, and given the rear a large luggage area. With a hybrid or plug-in drivetrain, this little VW could compete with Honda's CRZ. The rocker panel retro striping/lettering would be optional, but oh so cool, lol! I started this chop last year, but decided to finally finish it last night.
This would be an awesome alternative to the so so looking Civic Si, I rather give up the rear seats as well since I'll take any VW over any Honda any day of the week.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Woody! I started this one a long time ago. I got it to a point I didn't know what to finish it. Then when I looked at it a few months later, it was easy. I really like this little VW.
ReplyDeleteI guess I would prefer this lower (if possible), i.e. lower body (between bottom of windows and bottom of car). There's certainly a difference between the original Rabbit and the original Scirocco, and those seem to me to be the right proportions.
ReplyDelete(P.S. I test-drove a Corrado, the successor to the Scirocco. Hit my head on the top of the door frame getting in and out. Fun drive, but nasty torque steer.)
This might just be the VW we are waiting for. The new Scirocco just does not cut the cake.
