Experimental FWD AMC Wasp sport sedan from 1966, found 45 years later in rough-but-ready condition—long thought to have been crushed. This car morphed from early prototypes of the upcoming RWD Javelin pony car... History artandcolour-style, of course: All in my mind and mouse. Click image to enlarge.
The bandage effect does give it a very uncanny look.
ReplyDeleteIt looks pretty good for 45 years old.
I like chopping them to look old and rundown. That's the fun part of photoshopping...
ReplyDeleteThere was a five-door hatchback version of the Javelin done as a concept car that looked amazing. This captures a lot of that. The front of a Javelin with the rear of one of those concepts that went on tour in 1966 (?). I love it!

I love trying to re-create cars that could be prototypes. We've all seen the clay model photos in classic car magazines, so it's fun to use those ideas in production cars and "reverse engineer" them back into prototypes. I have an idea it's a little-used genre of photo illustrations, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe name is taken of course, from the stockpile of Hudson nameplates AMC would have owned, and related perfectly for the Hornet compact car program.
ReplyDeleteNice wheels!
ReplyDeleteFWD as in front-wheel or four-wheel drive?
ReplyDeleteActually the Javelin was proposed as a sedan, and a 4 door hardtop (frameless door glass) not necesarily FWD tho, it was in an AMC Javelin book I bought. And I think there are google images of it as as wagon
