As much as I love the 1959-60 wraparound rear window of GM's 4-window hardtop sedans, but the '61 Caddy was a bit more awkward. Besides my beloved wood paneling, I subtly changed the C-pillar. I widened the painted portion, and lowered the greenhouse a bit. The rear window is now a Mercury/Lincoln-like 3-piece affair, with a central section that lowers a few inches. I did this imagining that the 3-piece window became a fin-like fad after Lincoln's '58s, and by '61 Caddy would have fielded one.
I lolve the color scheme on this. I always wondered why this roof looked weird on the Cadillacs but just fine on the Buicks and Oldsmobiles that used it. Soemthing about the juxtaposition of hte roofline and the fins?

Can't put my finger on it either. It's just awkward! I know they raised the roof height after complaints on the '59 and '60, but since it was going to be a one year body style anyway, I would have kept the roof low!
DeleteThe color and the wood look nice together. This would also make one of those handmade Cadillac wagons that you see photos of occasionally.
