You give them panache like no present designer can give. I wish to use your avant-garde design for the 1968 Eldorados above for an article I am posting on my site called NotoriousLuxury. I think you may already have a few '61-62 Cadillacs to start like the finless '61 and the Pininfarina design. Maybe a later era like the end of the rear wheel drive platforms would be another possibility. Hope things are well with you.

BobfAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1813903385593410866.post-89779283671519403152016-03-27T14:18:37.864-04:002016-03-27T14:18:37.864-04:00I worked up an idea for a 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood ...I worked up an idea for a 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado Convertible some time ago. My dad bought me a gently used '68 Sedan De Ville in 1977 for my 20th birthday and I've loved this model year ever since. I love the Series 70 Brougham Coupe, the profile looks very much like a 2-door Imperial LeBaron. I like the variations on the lesser models (i.e. open rear skirt), and I like how the Eldorado gets a low rear skirt. It is interesting to see how that model might have appeared as a 4-door Eldorado Brougham, and the suicide doors are a nice homage to the original. Even the station wagon looks awesome.
It's a shame they don't make Cadillacs like this today. I think Collectible Automobile had some studio shots of C bodied Oldsmobiles from some eyars but I know you would do a better job!

Paul, NYCAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1813903385593410866.post-82179022376647631742014-02-26T14:51:50.786-05:002014-02-26T14:51:50.786-05:00I always liked the traditional Cadillac nomenclatu...I always liked the traditional Cadillac nomenclature of Series 61, 62, 63 (41/42 and again to designate deVilles in the 50s and 60s, although they didn't advertise them as series 63), 67 (D body limo shared with Buick), 60 Special, 75, etc. But then I'm quite the traditionalist!!

Paul, NYCAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1813903385593410866.post-86848338235395713422014-02-26T10:48:12.049-05:002014-02-26T10:48:12.049-05:00thanks, Paul! I understand the history but feel that it is too classist and German. I prefer names. Fleetwood and Calais were nice. As long as we are dealing in fantasy lets pretend the co-opted names are available. Think Tahoe, Santa Fe, Manhattan, Palm Springs, Biscayne, Sedona, Chesapeake, Sanibel, Potomac, etc. I think it reinforces that it is an American luxury car.

BobfAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1813903385593410866.post-81534805787938969712014-02-24T14:23:24.151-05:002014-02-24T14:23:24.151-05:00Well, Casey, you've done it again! It took me all of about 5 minutes to create the Eldo Aero, well, the basics of the roof, side window, skirts, etc, but then It took me 2 weeks to think about and finish the next 9, lol. I really wanted to do a series like this. And thank you for continuing to come here even in the slow periods. I followed the layouts of the originals pretty much, but just cleaning them up, centering, aligning, and setting the new type and titles. It is such relaxing work for me. I can get lost in the pixels. It's almost like meditating.Casey Shainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15654097774209894695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1813903385593410866.post-81670402018517013202014-02-23T20:27:32.157-05:002014-02-23T20:27:32.157-05:00It is truely wonderful in life when you find a kin...It is truely wonderful in life when you find a kindred spirit lost in the wonderful land of "What-if". I have a similar imagination but lack the technical skills to bring them to a final form anywhere but in my head. On one hand I am jealous of your abilities and your forum, on the other hand I am grateful to have found your site. Thank you. Your selections are in the kind of language of the period Cadillac ads - sublime perfection.

BobfAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
